HAPPY VAN MAHOTSAVA

Mother nature art, for Van Mahotsav by Varnodhar

"VANAMAHOTSAVA" IS THE FESTIVAL OF LIFE. IT WAS STARTED IN INDIA AS A CAMPAIGN TO SAVE "MOTHER EARTH"
The name Vanamahotsava (the festival of trees) originated in July 1947 after a successful tree-planting drive was undertaken in Delhi, in which national leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr Rajendra Prasad and Abdul Kalam Azad participated. The week was simultaneously celebrated in a number of states. Since then, lakhs of saplings of different species were planted with active involvement of agencies like the forest department. The concept of this great festival for the nature lovers was first initiated by (Late) K.M. Munshi, the then Union Minister for Food & Agriculture in the year 1950 It was the vision and wisdom of this great leader that the issue of environmental degradation, unless timely action is taken to prevent &restore, it may go beyond human control & threaten the survival of any living organisms on this earth planet. Gujarat was the first state to implement it. However, it was only in the 1970's that greater impetus was given to the conservation of India's forests and India was one of the first countries in the world to have introduced a social forestry program to introduce trees in non-forested areas along road sides, canals, and railway lines People celebrate" VANAMAHOTSAV" by planting trees in schools, offices, colleges, homes etc. Awareness programmes are also held at different levels. Novel programs like free distribution of trees are also taken up Let's pledge to leave a legacy of a green earth to our future generations. Let us all SAVE TREES. Celebrate "Van Mahotsava" with us...

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE IT ON ALL SOCIAL NETWORK.

"Pooja Samgri"- Acrylic Painting

COCONUT PLAYS A VERY VITAL ROLE IN OUR OFFERING. COCONUT, WHICH HAS A HARD OUTER COVER IS BROKEN IN TEMPLE AS AN OFFERING FOR OUR PRAYERS. BUT IT HAS MORE MEANING THAN JUST PRESENTING HIM WITH COCONUT. THE TENDER COCONUT IS COVERED BY LAYERS OF FIBER. THE STRIPPING OF FIBER IS TO EMPHASIZE THE FACT THAT WE SHOULD BE DEVOID OF DESIRES. COCONUT’S HARD COVER RESEMBLES THE HEAD OF A HUMAN BEING. ONCE THE COCONUT IS BROKEN, WE FIND A WHITE OR GRAYISH KERNEL. THERE IS ALSO JUICE PRESENT WITHIN THE COCONUT. THE BREAKING OF COCONUT IS CONSIDERED AS BREAKING OF OUR EGO OR AHANKARA, BECAUSE HE EXPECTS HIS DEVOTEES TO BE EGOLESS AND PURE. THE KERNEL WITHIN REPRESENTS OUR BRAIN. IT IS FILLED WITH INNER JUICE. THIS REPRESENTS THE INTERNAL TENDENCIES OF OUR BRAIN TO BE JEALOUS, EGOIST, SELFISH HUMAN BEING. USUALLY THE INNER JUICE IS POURED OUT BEFORE OFFERING THE COCONUT TO HIM, WHICH MEANS THAT WE SHOULD REMOVE OUR VAASANAS. SO, BREAKING OF COCONUT STANDS FOR SURRENDERING TO HIM WITH UTMOST DEVOTION AND LOVE.

THE BELLS’ CHIMES ARE BELIEVED TO REPLICATE THE SOUND OF AUM, THE ALL-SEEING AND ALL-KNOWING PRESENCE ACROSS THE UNIVERSE THAT IS SYNONYMOUS WITH THE NAME OF GOD. IN HINDUISM, A BELL’S CURVED BODY SYMBOLIZES INFINITY AND THE BELL’S TONGUE REPRESENTS WISDOM. A BELL’S HANDLE IS OFTEN FASHIONED TO RESEMBLE CHAKRA, NANDI OR GARUDA, WHICH ARE ASSOCIATED WITH DIFFERENT HINDU GODS. IT MAY ALSO REPRESENT THE HINDU GOD HANUMAN.

THE INCENSE STICK BURNS ITSELF COMPLETELY FILLING THE AIR WITH A FINE SMELL, LEAVING BEHIND JUST THE ASHES. THIS IS ONE OF THE HINDU RITUALS WHICH AGAIN SYMBOLISES A HUMAN VIRTUE OR QUALITY. IT TEACHES MAN THE ART OF SACRIFICING ONESELF FOR THE CAUSE OF OTHERS. IT SHOWS HOW TO LIGHT THE LIFE OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH HAPPINESS, LEAVING BEHIND YOUR OWN DESIRES AND ASPIRATIONS. THIS IS THE REASON AS TO WHY WE LIGHT AN INCENSE IN A PUJA OR A RELIGIOUS CEREMONY.
